March 2023 Volunteer Spotlight – Tyrese Ferguson

Congratulations to Tyrese Ferguson for being selected as March’s Volunteer Spotlight!

Tyrese lives with his dog named Shiloh, a ten (10) year old pit mix. He’s been part of my family since he was 1 year old. He is a big baby and thinks he’s a lapdog even though he is around 80 lbs!

Tyrese worked in retail for the past 5 years but just recently accepted an offer with Progressive Insurance to work as a Claims Admin Specialist and he very excited to be taking his career in a more professional direction!

Something that people might not know about Tyrese is that he read all the Harry potter books in 3rd grade!

Tyrese officially became a volunteer in the beginning of the year, my first official shift was January 4th!

“I decided to volunteer because I knew that there were a lot of animals in the area that needed to be helped and I really wanted to be a part of that help! After reaching out about becoming a volunteer and hearing what our shelter is all about, I knew that this was where I needed to be! Getting to play with so many awesome dogs is also always a plus!”

We asked Tyrese what his best memory is from the shelter, he said “The best memory I have so far is Sweetie being adopted. She is an intimidating dog because of her size, and I was worried that not many people would be interested in her. I was very happy (and sad because we all loved her) that she got adopted and I love seeing her pictures with her new family!”

Tyrese said the best part of being a volunteer with FCRSPCA is “knowing that what we do really does make a difference in the lives of our dogs. I love knowing that no matter what decisions we make, it is always in the best interest of our dogs. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a dog that might not feel safe or happy open up and get to be loved again!”

“If someone came to me interested in volunteering, I would ask what they were waiting for? I would let them know that any help at all is always appreciated and that even if they weren’t sure how they could be helpful, we would find something they wanted to do and make it work. I would also emphasize that everything is at your own discretion. You can volunteer as much or as little as you want!”

Thank you, Tyrese, for your dedication to Regional and for joining our Team!
