February 2023 Volunteer Spotlight – Rachel Weaver and Kevin Medick

Congratulations to Rachel Weaver and Kevin Medick for being selected as February’s Volunteer Spotlight!

Rachel and Kevin are partners in life and at the shelter! They have six doggos, two cats, a Chinchilla, and a Short-Tailed Opossum! They have been volunteers at the shelter since June 2021.

Rachel’s full-time job is as an E-Commerce Manager, and she has worked in the pet industry since 2011, starting out as a Store Manager for a pet store and then transitioned into working in outside sales for four years before making the switch to E-Commerce. She has been in her current role since November. She also has a second part time job as a dog trainer! Kevin currently helps with running group dog training classes, and he has a background in sales and is working on fixing up their house!

We asked Rachel and Kevin to tell us something about them that most people do not know. Kevin has done a cross country trip on his bike before. Like…a regular bike. Not a motorcycle! And Rachel says she talks in her sleep…like a lot.
We asked Rachel what made her decide to volunteer? She said I wanted to help dogs in my local community.

Rachel said her favorite memory of being a volunteer is “There are so many good memories already, but my favorite memories all have to do with watching the dogs play in the yard. Seeing them just be dogs having a great time is amazing every single time.”

We asked Rachel, In your opinion what is the best part about being a volunteer with Regional?

“That’s tough! We love being able to make an impact in the dogs’ daily lives. I also love the friendships I’ve made through being a volunteer.”

Are you thinking of volunteering? Rachel and Kevin say “Do it! Even just a couple hours of your time a week has a HUGE impact.”

Thank you Rachel and Kevin for all you do to help the animals! We’re so glad to have you as a part of the Regional family!
