There are a few spay and neuter programs in the area – if you haven’t already, please spay or neuter your pets!

Animal Protective Foundation – Scotia, NY. Offers two fee structures: one for the general public and one for those receiving some type of public support. Please note that the number of surgeries they can provide at this lower cost is dependent upon available funding and donations, which will vary. OUT OF THE PITS FIX-A-BULL PROGRAM – Out of the Pits has partnered with local veterinarians to offer FREE or low cost spay-neuter surgeries to any owned Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix in the Capital District area. Only surgery related procedures are included. Vaccinations, medications, other treatments, microchipping and/or procedures are at the owner’s expense. Guilderhaven – Altamont, NY This dog spay/neuter program is for low income NY residents. Please contact Sue at (518) 861-6861 to set up an appointment or for more information. Also, their website list a great amount of information for other spay/neuter clinics in the area. Check them out!
Forever Friends Outreach, Inc. – Ft. Hunter, NY. There is NO residency or income requirement to meet! Registration & payment must be done IN ADVANCE and appointments are limited. Clinics are held at Glen Animal Hospital: 216 Burley Road, Fultonville, NY 12072.
THE FEE IS $55.00 PER CAT – payable by Money Order or Cash. Paperwork and payment must be submitted in advance of your designated appointment day.
Kittens must be 3 pounds to be able to participate in the program.
The fee includes:
- SPAY/NEUTER Surgery
- 1 year Rabies vaccination
- One month application of topical flea treatment (ADVANTAGE OR REVOLUTION)
- Nail trimming
- Ear cleaning if needed
The following treatments or services are available upon request for an additional charge:
- FVRCP (Distemper vaccination) – $15.00
- Feline Leukemia Testing – $25.00
- Deworming with PROFENDER – $14.00
- FERAL CATS can have an ear tipped for identification if requested at no charge.
Mohawk Hudson Humane Society – Two locations.
- Menands offers services for cats, dogs (all breeds) and rabbits.
- Saratoga offers services for cats, dogs (all breeds) and rabbits.
How much is it and what’s included?
Cats – $90 includes rabies vaccine (mandatory unless proof of current vaccine provided)
Dogs – $125-$250 based on gender and size, includes rabies vaccine (mandatory unless proof of current vaccine provided). Please call for specific pricing.
Rabbits – $100 male, $125 female
All pets receive a brief physical exam and nail trim.
Special pricing may be available depending on pet owner’s income and availability of funds.
Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter – Sprakers, NY.
Call Ayres at (518) 673-5670 to get on the list for upcoming clinics. They are only able to do the clinics as often as the vet is able to do.

Every animal must have a valid rabies certificate.
Rabies and Distemper Vaccinations, as well as Micro-chipping are offered at the clinics.
Deposits are required by a date discussed at sign up to hold your spot for the clinic.
