Sanya has been married to her husband Jeff for 6yrs and they have 3 Olde English Bulldogs and a painted turtle. The dogs, Chino & Luna are 8yrs old and Waylon is 4yrs old. They found Loweinda (painted turtle originally named Mr. Lowe until they realized it was a female) @ Lowes in the lawn & garden section in Amsterdam during covid (2020) as a hatchling!!
Sanya works at SI Group as a Customer Service Account Representative. She currently works from home but has a temporary work-space in Schenectady. She started in August of last year (previously was a freight forwarder for over 6yrs).
We wanted to know something interesting about Sanya. She said, “I LOVE roller coasters, have been on the tallest & fastest in the world (75+) but I’m also scared of heights!”
Sanya has been a volunteer with Regional for less than 1yr, she started at the end of May in 2022. We asked Sanya what made her decide to volunteer? “I love dogs and I want to help as many as possible!”
Sanya says “My best memory as being a volunteer is when I brought our foster dog Dozer to meet his new dad. He was very attached to me and we were going to be extremely picky about who ended up with him, but when we met his new dad we instantly knew it was a perfect fit. Knowing that all the time and effort we put into him was totally worth it. It made saying goodbye so easy for us.”
We asked Sanya what the best part of being a volunteer is and she said “The best part about being a volunteer at Regional is watching the dogs go from being scared, neglected and/or abused to learning how to trust & love again. Just seeing how resilient they are and of course watching them get adopted into their loving homes.”
We asked Sanya what would you tell someone who was thinking about volunteering? “What are you waiting for? There are so many animals that need help! It’s so rewarding to be part of a team that truly cares and wants nothing but the best, but also to see how happy they are to see you every time you walk in the door. “
