Congratulations to Crystal Scocco for being chosen as September’s Volunteer Spotlight!!!

Crystal is married to Pete Scocco.  She has 3 children – Amy 45,  Paulette 43,  Mike 41, and 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way. Crystal has two puppers- Star age 8 and Dio age 5 and a kitty named Stooge who is 5. Crystal worked at Amsterdam Printing for 29 years until Covid kicked in and as she says “the rest is history”.  Crystal was born & raised in Annville, PA and has lived  in NY now for about 40 years.

You probably don’t know that Crystal got a pacemaker at the age of 35. “Of course that don’t slow me down.” Crystal loves chimpanzees and has tons of stuffies!

Crystal has been a volunteer at Regional going on 6 years.  She came in to inquire about a dog named Kobe.. walked out with no dog but became a volunteer.

The funniest memory Crystal has is when “we had a pet pig in the shelter that came in with his sister Lola. Her name was Cinnamon.  We had to go in her room to clean it with her in it. Cinnamon decided to wrap her legs around mine – I could not move!!! The other girls were laughing at me and I was laughing too.”

“The best part about being a volunteer is knowing you are giving these animals a new and better life… you will love them unconditionally. Plus, the people you volunteer with are the best! One big happy family.”

We asked Crystal what she would tell someone thinking about volunteering “I would say do it!!! You will love it and you will feel good about what you are doing.”

Thank you, Crystal Scocco, for your dedication and commitment to the animals at Regional!!!
