Congratulations to April Feathers for being selected as May’s Volunteer Spotlight!

April has been a volunteer with Regional for the past seven months.  She is a recent graduate from FMCC and currently works at Shoe Dept. as a Key Holder for the past eight months.  April has one fur baby, a four year old kitty named Fluffy.

A fun fact about April is she is obsessed with horses, although she has never even ridden one! April thinks it would be awesome to train horses!

We asked April what made her decide to volunteer at Regional. She said “Since I was little I always wanted to volunteer, one day I decided I was going to act on that dream and filled out the volunteer application. I think it’s amazing that people are willing to come together for the dogs.”

“I don’t have a funniest or best memory, but I do enjoy every the training program with Heather. In my opinion it not only teaches us as volunteers about new dogs that come in but it also teaches us about our own dogs at home.”

We asked April what the best part of being at Regional is. She said “Being able to spend time with the dogs and see them grow while they are in the shelter. Most of the time they come in afraid, malnourished, or neglected and being able to see the transition they make is incredible.”

April what would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering with Regional? “Do it! I understand life happens and you get busy but the two hours I take out of my day to volunteer are definitely the best!”

Thank you April for your dedication and commitment to Regional and the animals we help!
